This is a 4 year old Rye Whisky which is older than any Rye 100 release that has currently made it to market
Bottled at 128 proof or 64% ABV which is much higher in ABV and much more of a robust pour than the core Rye whisky at 100 proof.
It was affectionately named "Eclipse" because of the use of (2) separate yeasts sharing space in our dual pitched fermentations. This is common practice in the Single Malt space, and a fun way to dig into a classic American Whisky profile. I believe it was distillery manager Tommy Mote who coined most of the storytelling on the back when discussing 'A total eclipse occurs when there is perfect alignment between a viewer's perspective and two distinct astronomical objects.'
This experiment, if you will, is exclusively available to the UK/EU market and is an exciting release for Balcones to showcase outside of the US market!
